The date was 18th August 2018. And an unprecedented event was taking place in Islamabad-the former cricketer of Pakistan was taking oath as prime minister- there is an extra-ordinarily overt difference between cricket and politics, the former is just a game while the latter is a mind-game.
The noble oath-taking ceremony seemed to be a joyous occasion and was celebrated by many. But actually the ceremony was to prove itself as a historical catastrophe. The ceremony was probably also a trailer of Khan’s government, as it had witnessed a couple of stutters, confirming that there were many to follow.
After taking office, the PM proved that he had a cricketer’s psyche, who pledges remarkable performance prior to the match but fetches nothing during it. As he had promised a million dwellings, millions of jobs, sustainable economy, lavish hospitals and much more. But staggering and pathetic governance resulted, and let alone the accomplishment of the goals, they are still deprived of an underpin. And as of the economic stability, it still persists with a negative, instead steeper graph. To cut the trade deficit, every layman’s approach consists of import reduction, not that of a politician, who must also consider the massive revenue loss before performing the action.
Another injury to the economy came when the Khan borrowed a plethora of greenbacks from sources such as IMF, China, and UAE, further stressing the staggering economy. That does seem to be a loophole in Pakistani politics, as the former governments did the same, but the person who publicly swore to evade signing debts from anyone, eventually loans bundles of dollars, sidelining his oaths.
The Indian attack on Pakistan in February 2019, which turned out to be an embarrassing fiasco, gifted Pakistan with the Indian pilot, Abinandan. This seemed to an amazing opportunity to blackmail the idiot Indians and to fix their senses, but the noble PM continued his series of blunders and ended up returning the pilot. It was surely a peaceful move, irrespective of the anonymous influence under which it was carried out. But instead of a formal thank and apologize, look what nasty India did. They began ridiculing Pakistan and started circulating the speculations of Pakistan’s fear for India. And if they were so kind and apologetic, they must not have launched the attack. This ridicule was only a minor threat, and there were major calamities to follow. The violation of article 370-b in the Indian occupied Kashmir proved to be an astonishing step in Indo-Pak history. The send-back of Abinandan was eyed as cowardice by the Indian government and it treated it as a certificate of Pakistani cowardice, therefore it ended up placing a gruesome curfew over its claimed Kashmir. And if the Khan’s government was actually very clever and brave, they must have compelled the tyrant India to lift the lock-down, but unfortunately, the curfew withstands to date.
Lastly, wherever a need to apply imagination and creativity arises, e.g. in hospitals and railway, etc, the government opts for privatization or a flight to China for advice. A recent example of the latter is the novel coronavirus. All this proves the ill- governance and inability of the government and certifies that it is exercising layman’s politics with no innovation and intelligence. And as soon as the government proceeds, we will continue to witness samples of layman’s politics from it.
